Allergic Rhinitis and Allergy Triggers

By visiting an allergist, you should be able to have an allergy test which reveals the presence of certain allergic antibodies keyed to various triggers. Once identified, your doctor will instruct you on how best to avoid or minimize exposure to such triggers. For example pet dander and dust mites are at least partially avoidable allergens.

Minimize exposure to allergy triggers,
protect your bedding!

To prevent outdoor molds from entering the home, keep your doors and windows closed and use air conditioning equipped with certified allergen-grade air filters.

Control indoor moisture with the use of dehumidifiers. Have a licensed plumber inspect your entire plumbing system for any possible leaks, and repair any trouble spots immediately.

Make sure you have sufficient ventilation in humid areas. Clean or replace any contaminated surfaces with diluted a chlorine bleach solution (one part household bleach in 9 parts water). Take care to use proper protective gear (mask and goggles).

Make certain you use a vacuum cleaner and stand-alone air cleaner both with a HEPA filter.

There are also various anti-mold paints available at many hardware or paint specialty stores. These can be applied to affected areas. Make sure and strictly follow manufacturer instructions and safety precautions when applying such paints or coatings.

Also, limit or remove indoor houseplants, and make sure that the ones you keep are free of mold on leaves and within the potting soil.

The American Sleep Association, the leading sleep health organization, exclusively recommends SecureSleep™ bedding encasement products as the most effective choice for anti-allergen and anti bed bug protection, and they are available online from www.Bedbug.com.
